Really fantastic EP. Glad I wasn't the only one who saw the same influences in Lana Del Rey. I would call them Odd Future's Lana Del Rey. Definitely some kind of hip-hop, but like the pop Frank Ocean, or the neo-soul the xx?

Thanks, man. I'm glad you shared your insight. I'm sure I'll warm up a little more to this album. It's not fair to compare it to what they used to do, but it's still an interesting, listenable album. My only concern was how much it pales in comparison to what they're obviously capable of.

This IS a step up from their last few, though. Maybe we'll see a Dandy Warhols rebirth. Stranger things have happened...

Nicely written article! I was on the fence when it came to purchasing "This Machine"(because the last two were horrible). I'm glad I did though. It puts a smile on my face knowing that a band I enjoyed so much in my younger days is finally back on track, and making good music again.
"Thirteen Tales" is probably my favorite record ever, and this album isn't even in the same straosphere as that one. But what I love about the Dandy's is that they're not afraid to make something different every time they step into the studio.
